Foundational literacy (FL)

We are accelerating foundational literacies by: -Creating personalized tech-based interventions and learning tool to accelerate basic literacy and numeracy skills, particularly in under-resourced areas. -Implementing innovative and practical solutions that might help alleviate some of the challenges which education faces around the education systems. Across Rwanda, literacy rates in primary schools are significantly lower than expected despite increased access and enrollment. The Learning Achievement in Rwandan Schools (LARS 2022) found that student performance in English for P3 Literacy was low, with only 10.08% of the students meeting grade proficiency benchmarks in English, the current language of instruction in primary in Rwanda. The Rwandan education system is seeking to improve learning outcomes by calling upon partners to instill better instructional practices, expanding resources for teacher training, and developing learning materials that support multilingual literacy. Help a Child Initiative is supporting to enhancement of language skills among teachers and students in public schools with lower proficiency levels through Assistive Learning Technologies & Literacy Software to supports learners at all stages of literacy, from English Language Learners and students with diverse learning styles to students with learning differences, learning disabilities, or visual impairments. We enable schools using technology to improve access, quality and relevance of education and to produce more inclusive, effective and resilient learning. One year later, Students and teachers using these innovative Tech-based teaching materials, are able to utilize all their classroom materials, providing access to the general curriculum which will help them obtain classroom subject proficiency..
